When I'm asked, "how do we get this chapter started?", my first response is this: "Don't over complicate it."

Starting any project like this entails following a few simple steps.

The first is, identify people you know who might be interested. In other words, start with your "sphere of influence." Email everyone you know in your area and invite them to a meeting at your home to see a video such as "Obsession" or "Jihad in America."

Trust me - if they come, this will get their attention.

Next, sign them up and make sure they sign up with us at the ACT! for America website, either as a recipient of the email alerts or as a Contributing Member.

Next, ask them to forward the emails they receive from us (and you) to people they know. Now you're accessing their "spheres of influence."

Then, look for an appropriate action project to undertake. It could be an action project we launch, such as a petition campaign. Or it could be an issue in your local area. (Your chapter starter packet has a list of suggested projects.)

For instance, last month some ACT! for America members in southern California who are forming a local chapter brought to our attention some very questionable and unacceptable pro-Islamic activities going on in the local public schools.

You will see an email today that details what they discovered and what they did about it.

This is a perfect example of how ACT! for America chapters and members can make a difference in their local communities.

Next month we will post all of our confirmed chapters on the ACT! for America website. If you want to lead a chapter, and have not yet mailed back or faxed (757.689.4968) your signed Affiliation Agreement, please do so today so we can include you on the list.
