Terrorist Surveillance Legislation Needs An Important Action Alert Government intelligence leaders and counter-terrorism experts assert that one of the most powerful tools we have to prevent terrorism is surveillance of foreign communications. Without getting into details (for obvious reasons), we know for a fact that such surveillance has helped America and its allies in the war on Islamic terrorism foil numerous potential attacks over the past few years. Ten days ago, the House of Representatives went into recess without re-authorizing this powerful tool. The U.S. Senate, with bi-partisan support, has already voted to re-authorize presidential authority for this foreign surveillance. While there appears to be enough votes from Republicans and some Democrats in the House to join the Senate and pass this legislation, some leaders in the House are fighting to prevent its passage, and have effectively stalled the bill. Your U.S. Representative needs to hear from you today that you support this important surveillance tool. Your Representative, whether Democrat or Republican, needs to know that we are outraged that the House of Representatives has not joined the Senate in passing the legislation to re-authorize the use of foreign terrorist surveillance.
