[Excerpt: "The fact we Muslims know the idea behind the Ground Zero mosque is meant to be a deliberate provocation to thumb our noses at the infidel. The proposal has been made in bad faith and in Islamic parlance, such an act is referred to as “Fitna,” meaning “mischief-making” that is clearly forbidden in the Koran."]

What’s more, Raheel Raza and Tarek Fatah wrote in the Ottawa Citizen this weekend, no one can really deny the motivations of its sponsors. New York City already has 30 mosques, so it hardly requires one at the place where Muslim extremists murdered almost 3,000 people — including a number of Muslims. Raza and Fatah wonder how the organizers would react to a Serbian Orthodox church on the ground where 8,000 Muslims got slaughtered in Srebrenica, and whether they would be defending property rights and the freedom of religious expression in that case.
But mostly, the two authors wonder where the mosque’s sponsors got their money:
There are many questions that we would like to ask. Questions about where the funding is coming from? If this mosque is being funded by Saudi sources, then it is an even bigger slap in the face of Americans, as nine of the jihadis in the Twin Tower calamity were Saudis.
If Rauf is serious about building bridges, then he could have dedicated space in this so-called community centre to a church and synagogue, but he did not. We passed on this message to him through a mutual Saudi friend, but received no answer. He could have proposed a memorial to the 9/11 dead with a denouncement of the doctrine of armed jihad, but he chose not to.
It’s a repugnant thought that $100 million would be brought into the United States rather than be directed at dying and needy Muslims in Darfur or Pakistan.

[Excerpt: "...these preachings, which were intended to rescind the duty of jihad from Islam, existed then, and still exist now, alongside the most brutal type of imperialism and occupation ever known to the Islamic world, and specifically to the Arab world. This fact sheds doubt on the intent of the philosophers, authors, and members of the media who took it upon themselves to disseminate a 'friendly' Islam that obligates its followers to live with occupation, [population] transfer, the resettlement of land, and the expulsion of its inhabitants by force of arms."]

Anas Zahed, a columnist for the Saudi government daily Al-Madina, criticized Arab and Muslim intellectuals who limit the term jihad to a personal, spiritual struggle and reject its interpretation as waging war against occupation, which he said is its principle meaning.
Following are excerpts:
"Islam without jihad is the product of colonialism and is in no way connected to the Islam of Muhammad. Without question, the greatest jihad is personal jihad, and therein lies the proof that the term jihad in Islam is not limited [solely] to waging war... [But] this does not mean that the term jihad does not include many other aspects, among them those which relate to the individual's responsibilities to society, and the relations of the [Muslim] society and ummah with societies and countries that declare war on a Muslim state.

[Excerpt: "...CAIR plans more lawsuits against other law enforcement agencies."]
Lansing State Journal

DETROIT — A Muslim civil rights group has sued the Michigan State Police for failing to release information related to the killing of a Detroit mosque leader during a shootout with the FBI.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations' Michigan chapter filed a lawsuit Wednesday in Wayne County Circuit Court. Chapter executive director Dawud Walid said today the state police was part of a task force that conducted raids leading to the death of Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah at a Dearborn warehouse in October.
A message seeking comment was left today with the Michigan State Police.
The FBI says it killed Abdullah after he fired a gun and resisted arrest in a stolen-goods sting operation. An FBI dog died in the shootout.
Walid said CAIR plans more lawsuits against other law enforcement agencies.

[Excerpt: "For those who say it will enhance cross-cultural understanding, I say, "nonsense!"
There are many other locations in Manhattan where a mosque could be constructed. Those behind the plan are laying a guilt trip on us, insinuating the opposition are racist, Islamophobic bigots."]

To watch the ludicrous defense of the proposal to build what is being called an Islamic cultural center and mosque just two blocks from Ground Zero is enough to make your blood boil if you're an old-fashioned American.
I qualify that "level" of American, because you'll hear citizens, including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, defend the plan. He says it's part of our history and heritage to be tolerant of all religions and worship practices. Many agree with him, including New York's Landmarks Preservation Commission and Community Board, which unanimously approved the plans.
Bloomberg's political correctness blinds him to the affront the proposal is to the citizens of the city he represents. Indeed, the proposal is a deliberate provocation to Americans with any sense of equity and justice, and that includes me.
