A link between terrorism plots and hardcore child pornography is becoming clear after a string of police raids in Britain and across the Continent, an investigation by The Times has discovered. Images of child abuse have been found during Scotland Yard antiterrorism swoops and in big inquiries in Italy and Spain.
Secret coded messages are being embedded into child pornographic images, and paedophile websites are being exploited as a secure way of passing information between terrorists.
British security services are also aware of the trend and believe that it requires further investigation to improve understanding of terrorists’ methods and mindsets. Concerns within the Metropolitan Police led to a plan to run a pilot research project exploring the nature of the link. One source familiar with the proposal said that this could eventually lead to the training of child welfare experts to identify signs of terrorist involvement as they monitor pornographic sites. |

WORCESTER — Boston television crews were preparing to broadcast live last evening from Alhuda Academy on the latest news concerning a teacher charged in a terrorist plot when a young man slowed his sport utility vehicle and rolled down the window.
“Is this the place where they train terrorists to kill Americans?” he asked the cameramen before pulling away.
Similar scenes were repeated outside the East Mountain Street school during the course of the day after word spread of the arrest of Tarek Mehanna, who is accused by federal authorities of plotting to kill soldiers, mall shoppers, and politicians.
The arrest has prompted fear of possible retaliation among area Muslims. |

PHOENIX -- Police are hunting for the man who ran over two women in a parking lot outside Department of Economic Security building in Peoria, authorities said.
According to a news release from the Peoria Police Department, Glendale resident Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, ran over his daughter Noor Almaleki, 20, and her friend Amal Edan Khalef, a 43-year-old Surprise resident, as they walked out of the building at 89th and Peoria avenues.
Faleh Almaleki ran over the women because he was angry with his daughter, police said.
He believed "she had become too 'westernized' and was not living according to their traditional Iraq values and had made threats towards her," according to the news release. |
