Counterterror officials believe there’s no doubt that Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan’s alleged attack on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood was an act of Islamist jihadi terrorism.

The officials, who were interviewed by HSToday.us on background because of the sensitivity of their positions, said the evidence that they have reviewed clearly shows that Hasan was carrying out the jihad against infidels that extremist Islamists believe is their religious duty, and that he sought out and received inspiration and guidance from Islamist jihadist websites operated by elements of Al Qaeda.

The officials also said they want to know why the dots that a variety of intelligence and law enforcement agencies and observations and reports within the military regarding Hasan weren’t connected.

[Excerpt:  "Hasan, who was charged Thursday with 13 counts of premeditated murder under Article 188 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice in connection with last week’s fatal shootings at Fort Hood, had been in contact with the mosque’s radical former imam (spiritual leader), Anwar al-Awlaki, before the shootings, according to investigators. 

Al-Awlaki, who is the author of “44 Ways to Support Jihad,” allegedly praised Hasan’s actions from a Web site he runs out of Yemen."]

The violence at Fort Hood, President Obama told mourners yesterday, was "incomprehensible." The "twisted logic that led to the tragedy," he reiterated, may be "too hard to comprehend."

What exactly is so hard to comprehend? The signs foretelling Fort Hood jihadist Maj. Nidal Hasan's rampage were all too clear for those willing to see and hear. In his 2007 slide presentation to fellow Army doctors on "The Koranic World View As It Relates to Muslims in the Military," he spelled it out: "We love death more then (sic) you love life!"

Slide 11 stated: "It's getting harder and harder for Muslims in the service to morally justify being in a military that seems constantly engaged against fellow Muslims." Slide 12 cited Koranic sanctions for killing fellow believers. And Hasan made clear he wasn't alone among Muslim soldiers who "should not serve in any capacity that renders them at risk to hurting/killing believers unjustly."

FP: I would like to talk to you today about the petition you are organizing against CAIR. This is part of your battle against Islamic jihad on our territory, which we just saw on horrifying and tragic display at Fort Hood.

What are your thoughts on that jihadi massacre on our own territory? It could have been prevented if it were not for our society’s and citizens’ fear of organizations such as CAIR right?
