[Excerpt: " Somehow King Salmon, Alaska, resident Paul Rockwood, who converted to Islam in Virginia in 2001 or 2002 and who is known to spend a lot of time on the internet, found the cleric's teachings and became a loyal follower. The defense characterized Rockwood's violent interest as largely fantasy until an undercover agent became involved and helped give the ideations coherency and concrete plans. Prosecutors, however, are resolute that Rockwood isn't a naïve and lonely introvert unfairly led into a criminal plot, but rather, a man who has been considering the assassination of Americans for years."]

The strange story of a beloved couple who spent four years in a remote Alaskan community before their interception as domestic terrorists has not become any more comprehendible upon the couple's sentencing Monday.
They are linked to an American-born Muslim cleric who has become so radical that, in April, President Barack Obama ordered that cleric's assassination. American citizen Anwar al-Awlaki has ties to Al Qaeda and the 9-11 bombers, in addition to the more recent massacre at Fort Hood and the failed attempted bombing of a Detroit-bound jetliner last Christmas.

[Excerpt: "Article 17 of the MB strategy for North America proves there is nothing innocent about an “Islamic cultural center,” whether labeled “mosque” or not. It clearly invokes the need for military and politically supremacist strategies. This is in order for the Islamic center to turn – in action not in words – into a seed “for a small Islamic society” which is a reflection and a mirror to our central organizations."]

All roads taken by Feisal Abdul Rauf seem to lead to the sharia state of Malaysia.
Rauf spent many weeks there in summer 2010. He first attended school there. Rauf stands second in command at Malaysia’s Perdana Global Peace Organization to antisemitic former Malaysian P.M. and Islamic law advocate Mahathir Mohamad,1 who in Nov. 2002, incited global anti-West financial waras a “jihad worth fighting for.” 2 Rauf’s father, Muslim Brother Mohammed Abdul Rauf, a colleague and close contemporary of MB founder Hassan al-Banna, established four Malaysian Islamic study centers, including the International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur, which Mahathir invited him back to Malaysia to open. Malaysia’s IIU now rivals Pakistan’s International Islamic University in Karachi. 3 |

[Excerpt: "We hear a lot about the many Muslims in this nation who are said to be moderates. We have also seen what happens when they step over the line to become radical as in the Fort Hood massacre where after years of living as a moderate, Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan decided to take his Muslim beliefs more seriously and kill others on the Fort Hood complex. That any Muslim can suddenly change on a whim into a dangerous radical makes it anything but a practical religion."]

It is hard to believe that liberal politicians and some media are saying that those who oppose the mosque at Ground Zero are using the issue to divert attention away from real issues like the economy. They have labeled the naysayers as Islamophobes: a term that has less meaning today than ever before. Here’s why.
The vast amount of American blood spilled at Ground Zero is not something that can ever be reduced to an “issue” or a “diversion.” To suggest that, indicates that something has been lost in the realm of honor, respect and love for our countrymen. Have we come to that? According to most polls across the nation we have not. Politicians and media have not yet supplanted the will and voice of the people, just yet.

[Excerpt: "Contrast this with a news report by journalist Mindy Belz in the current issue of World magazine, concerning Afghanistan’s small community of Christian converts. Belz describes how an Afghan television station recently broadcast a video of a baptismal service, sparking riots in the streets of Kabul and leading to the arrest of 25 Christians. "

Washington Examiner Editorial
Time magazine asked this week whether America has “a Muslim problem,” and suggested that “many” of those opposed to the Ground Zero mosque “are motivated by deep-seated Islamophobia.” The same article scowls disapprovingly that “46% of Americans believe Islam is more likely than other faiths to encourage violence against nonbelievers.” (What could have possibly given them that idea?)
But, as the article concedes, there has been no increase in violence against Muslims. In reality, Americans remain fastidiously tolerant of all religions, even one that inspired 19 fanatics to hijack four commercial airliners on 9/11 and kill more than 3,000 Americans in the bloodiest attack in our nation’s history. Time requires a peculiar sort of blindness to see so much imagined intolerance in America — especially based solely on “anecdotal evidence” — while nearly ignoring the religious intolerance in most Islamic countries. A group of triumphalist Muslims seeks to erect an Islamic center near Ground Zero in a city that already has 100 mosques, and they face, at worst, disapproval, stern looks and calls to relocate their project. |
